NC Maritime Museum Wooden Boat Show - 1st Saturday in May

The North Carolina Maritime Museum's annual Wooden Boat Show takes place on the first weekend in May in downtown Beaufort. It is the largest gathering of wooden watercraft enthusiasts in the Southeast.
A variety of wooden boats are on display on Saturday. Enjoy traditional skills demonstrations and displays, educational activities, historic vessels, boat models, sailboat races, and sailboat rides. The Wooden Boat Show weekend opening event on Friday includes a reception and live music. Children will be able to "Make & Take a Boat" and learn about traditional tools on Saturday.
This is not a commercial show. Instead, it is a full day of scheduled demonstrations, talks and races that attract people who share an interest in the art, craftsmanship and history of wooden boats. Enthusiasts race radio-controlled boats in the pool on the Maritime Museum patio, and the public is given an opportunity to sail in traditional North Carolina boats.Enjoy activities and exhibits on display at the NC Maritime Museum and the Watercraft Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
