OVERVIEW

The Plan of Beaufort Towne, laid out in 1713, survives in a 12-block area which today is on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in the heart of this historic district is the Beaufort Historic Site, which depicts 18th and 19th century coastal Carolina. The two-acre site is open to the public and is staffed six days a week year-round, and seven days a week from June through August.

Take a guided tour of the houses and grounds of the historic site, or ride on the double-decker bus and hear about the history and lore of Beaufort. Also available are self-guided tours of Beaufort Historic District and of the Old Burial Ground, which is on the north side of Anne Street between Turner and Craven.
